Registration EU Subnational Justice, Governance, and Rule of Law Indicators

European Union Subnational Justice, Governance, and Rule of Law Indicators

The World Justice Project (WJP) is starting a new project to generate indicators at the subnational level measuring justice, governance, and the rule of law in the European Union (EU) in 110 regions. WJP will produce this data and analysis building upon the tested and proven methodologies of the WJP Rule of Law Index measuring 140 countries and jurisdictions and the WJP Mexico States Rule of Law Index, with adaptations to reflect the institutional architecture in the EU.

To construct an up-to-date profile of each region’s situation regarding justice, governance, and the rule of law, the WJP will use both responses from a general population poll and from a group of legal experts participating in the Qualified Respondents’ Questionnaires. These respondents are selected from directories of law firms, universities and colleges, research organizations, and non-governmental organizations, as well as through referrals from the WJP global network of practitioners.

As an acknowledgment of your expertise, you will receive a digital copy of our published report and a Certificate of Contribution. Additionally, you may choose to include your name and organizational affiliation (if applicable) in the public list of expert contributors of the EU Subnational Justice, Governance, and Rule of Law Indicators, or remain entirely anonymous.

The rule of law is one of the common values upon which the EU is founded and represents a constitutional priority shared by all Member States (Article 2 of the Treaty on EU). The construction and maintenance of the rule of law requires specific and evidence-informed solutions at the national and subnational levels, taking into account people’s perspectives and experiences.

This project is funded by the EU and will complement other research activities being conducted by the WJP with the mission of advancing the rule of law worldwide. Data collection started in October 2023 but, if you wish to participate as an expert, please include your contact information below
